The Colonnade Boston Hotel is home to Boston's most authentic brasserie, Brasserie JO. Under the culinary direction of world-renowned Chef Jean Joho, owner of the acclaimed Everest and Brasserie JO restaurants in Chicago and the Eiffel Tower Restaurant in Las Vegas, Brasserie JO has the style and cuisine of classic brasseries throughout France.
Chef Joho's menu offers a variety of light snacks and full meals, with highlights including Uncle Hansi's Onion Tart, Hanger Steak, Pomme Frites, Coq au Vin, Croque Monsieur, and classic desserts like Profiteroles covered in Homemade Chocolate Sauce and the Crème Brûlée, of course. Along with its extensive wine and beer lists, Brasserie JO pulls in an eclectic crowd of Bostonians at cocktail time with an extensive selection of martinis and the restaurant's signature beer, Hopla, an authentic Alsace-style draft beer.
Brasserie JO has three main spaces: a French bar, a main dining area with a 1940s look, and a unique "Winter Garden." In addition to breakfast, lunch, and dinner, the restaurant offers a late-night menu until midnight and serves brunch on weekends. Reservations are highly recommended but not required. Hotel guests can ask The Colonnade's 24-hour concierge service to handle their reservations. Valet Parking is offered Wednesday - Saturday from 5:00pm-midnight.
Can it be 10 years since Brasserie JO opened? The city’s first brasserie helped launch a tidal wave of casual French dining here in the Hub that continues to this day...Local diners owe a debt of gratitude to Jean Joho, the Alsatian-born, James Beard award-winning, Chicago chef who opened the original Brasserie JO in the Windy City in 1996 (Mat Schaffer, Boston Herald, May 2008)
If you can’t make it to Paris, the next best thing is a visit to Brasserie JO, Boston first authentic and award winning brasserie. “French food, French ambience, French everything has returned to popularity with a vengeance. Brasserie Jo in the Colonnade Hotel sports a bar – noisy … glittery with mirrors and brass - with just the right insouciant attitude. The seafood tower is delightful, the frites irresistible and the house beer as delicious as the gossip” (Alison Arnett, Boston Globe).
